Best seasons for Mohare Danda Trek
Although Mohare Danda can be trekked in any of the seasons we highly recommend you travel during spring and autumn. The reasons for selecting those seasons are further discussed below:
Spring season
The spring season is also considered a prime season for trekking across the country. During the spring season, from March to May, the weather is mostly consistent and clear, with mild temperatures that are perfect for hiking.
During spring, the peaks are covered in flourishing rhododendrons, providing lovely scenery. Spring may also be an excellent time for nature lovers and artists looking to capture the region’s unidentified beauty. Additionally, the clear sky during spring helps trekkers experience the panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.
Autumn season
Autumn is also equally considered the best season for trekking to Mohare Danda. In the spring, the weather transforms cold and consistent, with crisp, dry air, making trekking more comfortable.
As autumn is the post-monsoon season, the pathways are dry, which reduces the risk of slipping and falling during the trek making the trail safe to travel. Also, you will get an opportunity to meet numerous other visitors from all over the world, since fall is one of the most significant seasons.
Summer season
Nepal’s summer season continues from June to August. The trek is possible and enjoyable, however,r there might be some problems on the route due to the heavy rain. Because of the constant rain and dark skies, you may find the trip boring and annoying.
Also, during the summer, the humidity levels are high, and as you move ahead, your bodies get heated, and due to the humidity and heat you may get tired and may not feel well for further treks.
Winter
Winter, the coldest season in Nepal, lasts from November to January. Even though you can travel in winter, winter brings chilly temperatures, especially at higher altitudes, which makes trekkers uncomfortable.
Also during winter, all the surfaces are covered with snow which makes the trail more difficult. Additionally, during winter, most trees and plants become dormant which makes the vegetation less vibrant. This might affect the expectations of trekkers regarding the scenery of nature.
Meals
Meals throughout the journey are simple and healthy. You will discover largely local food, along with a few modern goods. Rice, steamed dumplings (Momo), pasta, lentils, potatoes, pickles, curry, and rice will be the only foods that you may consume.
Furthermore, depending on the region, you can select from fried potatoes, Tibetan bread, Momo, Chowmein, eggs or omelettes, fried rice, spaghetti, pancakes, thukpa, and a variety of other meals.
Other beverages available throughout the region include hot lemon, ginger tea, soda, coffee, milk tea, beer, and whiskey.
Dal Bhat, a typical Nepalese meal, is the most popular meal on the Mohare Danda Trek. If you have never eaten rice or curry before, you may feel as if you have consumed them excessively. It is high in carbohydrates, which is a great source of energy for trekking.
Trek Difficulty and Preparation
The Mohare Danda journey is a moderate trip that offers a decent mix of easy and challenging trekking. As an outcome, travelers of all ages and physical levels may successfully finish the walk. You’ll be walking below 3,300 meters, which decreases the risk of altitude sickness.
Your trekking guides will accompany you and help you adapt to the altitude. They will also direct the walking speed and breathing methods along the route. You don’t have to have any past trekking experience; therefore, anyone in excellent health and physical condition can participate in the Mohare Danda Trek.
Regarding preparation, it’s important to pack correctly for the weather and terrain you’ll be traversing. Here are some equipment that you need to carry while trekking:
Accommodation for Trek
As you already know, Mohare Danda is a new trekking destination located near the Annapurna Conservation Area. Throughout the Mohare Danda Trek, you are going to spend the night at an ordinary local house (community lodge) with at least two single bedrooms.
Most lodges have small bathrooms outside the room, which should be arranged so that there is less probability of finding toilet paper rolls. When considering the remoteness of the area, lodging seems not that horrible; it’s clean and warm, and it feels like you have got everything you need.
But since it has a limited number of lodges and teahouses, we recommend you make bookings, especially during the peak season, that is autumn and spring. Overall, though it has fewer facilities, they are very kind and welcome visitors with courtesy.
Note: Since there are no ATMs in Mohare Danda, we highly recommend that you carry enough cash for the trek.
